While my actual *personal best for driving in one day is actually 1235.9 miles, Kathy and I completed a new record for ourselves yesterday. In order to spend an extra day with our family in Oregon, we decided to drive all the way from Oregon to Colorado in one big drive... in one day. We left at 4am PST and started east. After passing through Oregon, we drove through Idaho, dipped into Utah and then across most of Wyoming. After heading south at Cheyenne, we were home in Golden just 20 hours after we started. Eek!
Special props to Julia for being a trooper on the long drive. Extra special props to Kathy who kept Julia fed, entertained, and happy for the long stretches when I was driving.
* My personal driving record was set in 2005 when I drove from my sister's house in Colorado to Denver and then all the way to Reno, NV in order to hang out with Marc & Emily in SF. Almost made it all the way but started hallucinating and had to fall into a casino hotel bed before falling asleep at the wheel. Here's a view of my day-long odometer reading.
