Pandemic Studios Says Goodbye

Last week Electronic Arts put a bullet in the head of Pandemic Studios, putting many of their 200 staff out of work a week before Thanksgiving.

Today Pandemic ex-staffers let EA know how they feel. Maybe the publisher should be happy that all they lost was a printer in the mass firings of developers skilled at making games with destructible environments.

Max... to the MAX!

Well, it was very sad to get rid of my faithful Maggie (Mitsubishi Eclipse) last month but we have happily replaced her with a great new Honda CRV. The AWD capabilities of Max fit us much better here in Colorado and we already love our decision to go with this car as our main vehicle for the mountains. We hope to have many, many good years with this car and hope that some of you get a chance to ride up to the snow parks with us. See you all soon!

Clients From Hell

Hilarity! It always amazes me what some clients think are reasonable requests. To give you even more reason to check the site and read some more, I will add one more gem below. "$1,000 is very expensive, you know. We only want a simple website with our current contents, and contact form as well. And don’t forget about CMS features. We want to add or edit content on our own. And the picture gallery, we want something that stunning and animated. The header should be animated as well. And our logo seems too old, can you design new logo for our company? But the best price we can offer is $300, and we think that’s more than enough"

Jason Segel Sings

Actor Jason Segel (of "Forgetting Sarah Marshall" fame) performing an original song, with The Swell Season, at The Wiltern in Los Angeles, CA. Nov 18, 2009 Here's how this happened... The band was at a restaurant in Los Angeles; drinking tea, when they were offered a bottle of wine by two celebrities. Paul Rudd and Jason Segel. Now The Swell Season has been enjoying watching their "Freaks & Geeks" DVDs while on tour, so this was a nice coincidence. They became good acquaintances, so The Swell Season asked Jason Segel to be a surprise guest and sing a song for us. Wasn't this too cool?

"While digging through Usenet, I stumbled on these three unidentified tracks that pick apart three of the Beatles' original multitrack masters, isolating and highlighting pieces from 'She's Leaving Home,' 'A Day in the Life,' and 'Come Together.' It's an astounding, and very listenable, glimpse into their recording process."
