Dakar Rally 2010

The 31st running of the Dakar Rally is being held in South America for the second year, instead of the traditional African route, due to ongoing security concerns. This year's race began and will end in Buenos Aires, covering a looping 9,000 kilometers between Argentina and Chile over 14 stages. 362 Teams began the race with 176 motorcycles and quad bikes, 134 cars, and 52 trucks. The race is just over halfway completed now, the winners expected to cross the finish line on January 16th. Collected here are several photographs from the first 8 stages of this year's rally. I just found my SECOND favorite Kickstarter project today when I was poking around on their site (my favorite, of course, being Make a New CD with The Quiet. I am extremely tempted to donate to this project as I can't think of another book series (I know it's a comic) that spoke to me as a kid and gives me fond memories to this day like all of the Calvin & Hobbes classics.

Holy Moses! Undeniably it has been quite a year for me and the Mrs. Now, we have taken it up another notch and are now happily awaiting our first child in late July of 2010. NUTTY BANANAS!! What's even crazier is that we found out that Kathy was pregnant within the same few days that we bought a new car AND put the offer on our house. Wow, what a ride. Not sure what other goals we can achieve... can't even think of any possibilities. We are just so happy and blessed, I'm just going to smile for the rest of the day (at least).
